I absolutely agree. As I stated, I use combinations of all of the above depending on the site I’m running the ads on. I hope to clarify this post with more detailed discussion of the individual elements as i go along.

And you are correct. “Passive” and “Active” are terms that I coined for myself. They make sense to me, though they may not be the proper industry terms.

In-post links, banner ads can also add up to the revenue from a blog. Homepage ads whether simple links or banner ads always cost more than the inner page links. “Passive advertising” as you say can also be achieved with the 3rd party ad sites. So i think a combination of Active and Passive advertising will prove to be a more successful move.

This is very possibly true, but I’ve yet to dive into that market. I don’t think it would be all that easy for a blog that’s just starting out to pull off direct ad sales with much chance of a decent revenue.

I have been considering the idea with my Cooking Blog, now that it’s running with a PR of 4 and an Izea Rank in the top 20%. Once I’ve gone ito the direct sell market I’ll feel a lot more comfortable discussing the subject.

Are you saying that you’re of the “I don’t do paid posts” camp, or that you are not opposed to them? I’m a bit unclear on your statement.

You miss one of the most lucrative forms of advertising, Direct Ad sales.
