…And now back to our regularly scheduled program.

June 10th, 2009

Has it really been over a month since I last posted here? With all that’s been going on, is doesn’t feel like it.  Then again, date stamps don’t lie, do they?  It really has been over thirty days.  What in the world could possibly keep me from updating for so long?

In short, anything and everything. It’s been a very hectic month for the Russell family in many ways, all of which conspired to keep me from getting much in the way of work done here, or on any of my other blogs and if you will indulge me for a moment, I’ll fill you in on some of the highlights.

Firstly, for those of you who aren’t aware through twitter or my food and recipe blog, we’re gearing up for a move. This is a military move, and one of the more complicated types.  My wife is moving to Incirlik Air force Base in Turkey and my son and I are moving to northern California to be close to family.

The logistics of a move like this are staggering, not only from a family standpoint, but from a paperwork standpoint.  Much of my time has been spent making sure that everything I can do to help my wife get things in order has been done.  After that it’s taking care of my son. In what little free time I have left, I’ve been handling the paperwork for the home we’re buying.

If there’s anything left after all of that, I’m usually content to spend my time mowing down hordes of parasitic alien beings in Resistance and Resistance II: Fall of Man, or creating and destroying cities in Civilization IV. Getting all technical minded just hasn’t been on my high priority list after a day of pushing to get things done.

I’m happy to announce that almost al of the paperwork side of the move is done.  On my side at least, there is little to be done now except wait for the movers to come and pack our things.  We should get word on the house sometime today or tomorrow.  If we got it, great!  If not, I’ll rent in California.  Either way, there won’t be much to worry about.

Now I can get back to work. I’ve been looking forward to it for weeks.

Over the course of the next month much of my blogging will be done from locations other than my trusty Mac, which will be packed for moving by Father’s Day. I can’t promise that I’ll be posting in great length, but blogging from a hotel room or while I watch the kid play in the park will pretty much guarantee a heavy posting frequency.

In any event, this station is now resuming its regularly scheduled programming.  We apologize for any inconvenience that our technical difficulties may have caused our viewers.

Peace. I’m out.

Works in progress and other news

March 24th, 2009

Just a quick note to let all of you know what I’ve been up to over the past few weeks and why there hasn’t been much activity here. Contrary to popular belief, i have not secretly boarded a jet to the bahamas with the rest of my money in tow to pursue a career as a professional chicken-juggler or bikini string inspector. Rather, i’ve been busy as all hades on a number of projects and some personal matters.

First of all, My wife and I are buying a house! That process alone is enough to keep me quite distracted. We currently live in TX, but are purchasing a home in California. As you can imagine, there is a significant amount of time required in the process, since I can’t just drive down the road to look at a property. I’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time on the phone with my Realtor and my sister, who lives in the area while we try to narrow the list of prospects preceding a quick trip out to make the final decision. It’s hectic, but exciting as well.

Secondly, I’m in the middle of getting three eBooks ready for publication. Currently I’m in the editing process on all of them and it’s taking most of what little time I have left from the first item on the list. I’m excited about the prospect of getting these books out, but I’m not going to let them see the light of day until I’m positive that they’ve been polished to the point of perfection. After all, my name will be on them and it’s important to make sure that they are not only valuable, but simple enough for the casual reader to gain something from. It’s a lot of work, but well worth it in the end and hopefully these books will provide some valuable information to the people who read them.

Lastly, I have several websites in progress. unfortunately these have had to take the back burner to the other projects I’m working on, but I hope to have them completed in a few months. When I do, I’ll let you all know.

I hope to have a few posts ready by the end of the day. I’ll get them all queued up for automatic publication over the next week or so. Until then,

Peace, I’m out.

Have you missed me?

October 24th, 2008

Has anyone else been hearing crickets around here?  I know I have.  It’s not that I’ve given up on the whole blogging thing.  Usually when there are no posts here it means that the blogs I run that are paying my bills are taking all of my time.  This last month has been no exception, but that isn’t the only reason that I’ve been absent in this venue.

In the past month I and my family have had to deal with more than our share of personal issues.  My wife has been having difficulties at work, we’ve had a few external family problems and then there was the kicker.  My two year old son has been diagnosed with Autism.

Needless to say, news of that nature can cause a drop in productivity for most people, and I am no exception.  Most of my time in the past 30 days has been devoted to making sure that his need are going to be met in both the long and short term.  i’m a Dad, that’s my job.  All other responsibilities fall far lower on my list of things to do than taking care of my family.

Things have settled into something like a routine again and wth that I’ve taken a hard look at the time I have to devote to work vs. the time I cannot help but devote to family.  In that light I realized that I was spread too thin in the world of writing and blogging and have been getting ready to shut down a few projects I’ve been working on.  At the same time, I’ve begun work on another, but that’s a different story and I’ll get to it later.

For now just let me say that there will be far more frequent posts here.  At the very least i’ll post a daily summary of earnings if there are any, and there usually are. Hopefully this can inspire others out there to make a litte cash for their Christmases as well.

For now I have some things I must attend to.  I’ll be back no later than Monday to get this ball rolling again.

Peace, I’m out.

On Personal Matters

May 3rd, 2008

This week’s scheduled post has been rudely and unceremoniously interrupted by this thing I like to call my life.  In the past seven days we have been told that we need to move within the next two weeks!, That I could not find a suitable home for my beloved family pet, who had to be taken to a shelter (more about that here.), and that a friend’s wife had to be sent to the Intensive care unity at the local hospital.

Needless to say my attention has been focused elsewhere, and the article planned for this week remains half written.  I’ll be getting back to it on Monday.  for now, there are far more pressing matters to attend to…  Like helping our friend feed his four kids and visiting in-laws!

Welcome to Jerry D Russell dot Com

April 22nd, 2008

Hi, and welcome

Let’s get the ball rolling with a short introduction and a bit of a mission statement. I’ve had this domain for quite a while, but until now I really didn’t know what i wanted to do with it. Over time my other interests have earned me a bit of money and of course other people have asked me how I did that. Instead of writing five to ten emails a week re-explaining the same concepts over and over again, I decided to turn this site into a central repository for all of the methods that I use and income generating avenues I try out.

If they work, you’ll be the first to know.

It’s all about keeping it real

What this blog is:

This blog is about realistic methods for making money online and how to optimize what you’re already doing to achieve that goal. By realistic methods I mean things that anyone can do with a little effort and a little know-how.

I’ll cover the things that have worked for me, the things that have not and concepts for making these things work for you, whatever niche you happen to be in.

Over the course of my career working in the Internet, a lot of other people have shared their knowledge with me and helped me to get to where I am today. This is my way of giving some of that back to others who just want to do the same things that we have done.

It’s a karma thing.

What this blog is not:

This blog is not about getting rich on the Internet. If I had the seret for making a million dollars per day while playing the newest Resident Evil, I wouldn’t be very likely to share it with anyone at all. I’m way too much of a capitalist for that.

What I cover may at times be controversial. I am a mercenary money maker. I don’t particularly care if there is a segment of the Internet population that does not like the way I go about earning my money, but I do not and will not cover any form of marketing or revenue program that is illegal or unethical. I work for my money and I come by it honestly. I do not promote methods that will gain you money in other ways.

If you’re looking for a get-rich quick scheme, look somewhere else.

How often will this blog be updated?

As often as I find something worth writing about. I have no intention of filling this site with fluff to simply attract search engine spiders or promote my other interests. I decided to start this for one reason and to serve one purpose. That’s all I intend for this blog to do. If there are gaps in content, it’s because I had nothing noteworthy to say.

having said that, I’ll most likely be posting something once or twice a week, as long as I can manage to cover all the bases that I want to cover on that topic. If I can’t cover them in one post, then I’ll keep going until I do.

Content is king, but only if it’s worth reading.

Will you sell out and start posting advertorials?

I’ll post sponsored articles if I feel they may be of some value, or if they pay me well enough. After all, this is about making money. But don’t worry that you’ll ever see an ad for plastic surgeons in La Jolla. It wouldn’t really fit the subject matter, would it? I would prefer that in the end, this site make money through straight advertising and affiliate sales, but in its infancy it’s going to pay the bills however it can.

Besides, I don’t feel that selling advertorials is selling out, but I’ll cover more on that subject later.

It’s all about the money. If it wasn’t, you wouldn’t be reading this.

Once again, thanks for stopping by. If anything I’ve said has peked your interest, why not sign up for the RSS feed to stay updated with the most current and interesting tidbits I have to offer you?
