Finding company information just got easier.

Whether you’re writing fiction or writing a factual article, you’ll often need to find information on a certain business, corporation or company. Getting your facts straight is key, as publishing incorrect facts or figures (except in certain fictional cases such as alternate timelines) not only damages your credibility, but can lead to libel suits.
If you’re going to mention an actual company name in a work of fiction, it’s often a good idea to ask for permission from the company’s P.R. or advertising department as well. (It’s not that hard to do, my wife recently got permission to use a companybrand name and specific product details in a romantic suspense novel she’s penning.)
The simplest method for getting specific company information that I’ve found so far is a new search service called masterseek. Masterseek is designed to search businesses, not every single web site out there. I’ve used their service several times in the past few weeks to find the websites of specific companies that I’m writing articles about, such as Del Monte and information on food packaging.
Masterseek is still in its infancy as a company, so your mileage may vary. All-in-all though, I’ve found it to be a useful resource, and one I’ll be returning to in the future.

I think you have a really good blog here. I work PT as a freelance editor and I know a number of writers who don’t even bother to think about this. This resource is defintiely a helpful tip for me to keep under my belt.
Thanks a lot. I definitely will be coming back to check on other articles!
