Thirteen Quotes from Robert Heinlein, the Dean of Science Fiction
- “Never worry about theory as long as the machinery does what it’s supposed to do.”
- “Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.”
- “Women will forgive anything. Otherwise, the race would have died out long ago”
- “Being right too soon is socially unacceptable.”
- “The universe never did make sense; I suspect it was built on government contract.”
- “Writing is not necessarily something to be ashamed of, but do it in private and wash your hands afterwards.”
- “I never learned from a man who agreed with me.”
- “Sin lies only in hurting other people unnecessarily. All other “sins” are invented nonsense. (Hurting yourself is not sinful - just stupid).”
- “The more you love, the more you can love–and the more intensely you love. Nor is there any limit on how many you can love. If a person had time enough, he could love all of that majority who are decent and just.”
- “Yield to temptation. It may not pass your way again.”
- “They didn’t want it good, they wanted it Wednesday.”
- “Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done.”
- “You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don’t ever count on having both at once.”
