About the Author

Welcome, Glad you dropped in!
Who is Jerry D. Russell?
I’m they guy behind the curtain at Cooking… by the seat of my Pants, the Spun Puppy and ADHDFamilies. Until last year I was a full time web developer, but after 20 years in the business I decided I needed a change and writing just seemed to fit the bill.
In that time I’ve learned a lot about what it takes to keep people coming back to read your work. The concepts are simple, but at times the explanations are not, and I think that is why most people fail to make any real money in this game. I think there is enough Internet for everyone to succeed in, and I decided o share what I’ve learned.
I thought this was a writing blog!
It is, though not in the original context. I worked for a long time to hone my fiction and mystery skills, and when this blog was conceived, that was the focus. Over the course of the year however, I realized that it will probably take me most of the rest of my life to finish a manuscript, mostly because my time is spent working on various blogs and articles intended for web publication. In short: I’m a great article writer, but a lousy author. It’s better to stick with your strengths, don’t you think?
So How can this help me?
Whether you are an author of fiction or a freelancer for hire, a blogger or a technical article writer, there are common skills and tactics you should have in your arsenal when writing for any type of online publication. While the voice differs, the concepts do not, and hopefully I can pass on some of what I’ve learned here. After all, I’m making a living off of it, and if I can do it, anyone can.
